Fr. Jason Marco, our priest at the Quasi-parish of San Lorenzo Ruiz announced
last Sunday that the Diocese of San Carlos has now a new bishop. He is Bishop
Gerardo "Gerry" Alminaza, a Bacoleño, who was formerly the Auxiliary Bishop of
the Archdiocese of Jaro. The scheduled installation is on Nov.18.
Bishop Alminaza will take over the job of Rev. Fr. Dan Parcon, who acted as administrator of the Diocese of San Carlos for quite a long time since former Bishop Jose Adsvincula transferred to his hometown, Capiz.
Many in the diocese expected Fr. Dan Parcon to be appointed bishop, and some parishioners under the diocese which cover San Carlos City up to Manapla, were surprised that the new Bishop from Jaro, Iloilo is the one appointed.
