The First Negros diesel power plant is under construction at Barangay
Tinampaan, Cadiz City. Many in Cadiz are surprised by its construction and dirty
tongues wag again in many coffee shops.
The fight for the construction of coal fired power plant is barely finished and it was the issue with Green Alert and Greenpeace that a mixture of diesel and coal was the purpose of the former proponents in Cadiz.
After the fight for governorship between Gov. Marañon and Vice Gov. Alvarez was finished with Marañon winning, those who openly fought against coal are now in smithereens. Some of them even shun me making propaganda that I am a Marañon man, so they keep closely knitted their fight against coal and let politics ride on the issue. Unfortunately due to disunity and intrigue, the fight lost, and no one running for the City Council won, all of them trounced by the powerful combination of the strength of Gov. Marañon and the Escalantes. Coal issue was sidelined for a time so also the electric power situation of which Cadiz has no immediate use as our electric current is not that serious compared to Bacolod under the able management of Vresco officials.
Then there was a sly talk that a solar power plant will soon rise in Hda. Paz, Barangay Tinampaan, only for diesel power plant now to announce proudly the beginning of its birth.
